I'm helping in the development of a game, and now i was able understand some things that, i think, are relationed with yume2kki's development.
Well, we create sprites, tiles, change many things in our game pratically Everyday, sometimes we build a very good idea, do assets, install them in the game, and after seeing that nothing there be further improved, we discuss internally and almost always just scrap THE ENTIRE THING to make it better. So we're aware that something it is good to a better development. (even knowing that it can cost us some energy)
I think that with yume2kki was more or less the same, maybe Spelude had the potential to make wonderfull maps and music to the game, we can see the vase map for example, that Anon helped to improve, and i think that map works nicely in the game.
The point is that maybe interference of people that is non-related with the project can just make the things worse, even critising or rooting for the development, because, if a developer cares too much for what the fans are expecting, and make something that, to their own eyes or the fans, is not soo good compared with the rest of the game, it can really overstress them at the point that they can think that's best to abandon the project instead of wasting more energy trying to improve.
i not think that our opinions can have influency in the development of the game, Since it continue being something internal here, but harass developers in social media trying to communicate, demanding or letting them know that we're expecting can only disrupt the development. Wataru's work is wonderful, his maps touched some of my most forgotten memories, (and i'm sure that it happened in the same way with many people) but demanding that everything in the game must be like that is wrong.
Not criticizing here anyone specific other than myself. I was one of the guys that critised Spelude's work badly, even knopwing that is just a opinion here, now I know that it can be wrong. if there's something good or bad in the game, is up to the developers to decide.
